About Tony

Tony has never been afraid of hard work and he became interested in carpentry at a young age.  He worked in many areas of construction such as building homes and bridges during high school and after graduation. He joined the Carpenter’s Union in 1998 and has spent his life working with his hands. Tony has always been a “jack of all trades” and is fearless when it comes to trying new things. He is an outdoorsman who enjoys hobbies such as hunting, exploring, blacksmithing and volunteers to teach skills to local Boy Scouts. If he can capture some spare time, you will find him with Kim at a local flea market or antique store searching for treasures and new projects. Tony also enjoys living off the land by growing his own food, gardening and canning.

About Kim

Kim began her career in bookkeeping at a local hotel and restaurant before transitioning into banking. In 2000, she left the financial world and began working for her parents at their concrete business. Kim was taught the fine art of finishing concrete and decorative stamped concrete and loved every second of working side by side with her dad. Along the way, a friend with a construction company asked her to handle his bookkeeping on the side and eventually that turned into Kim becoming self employed and handling the bookkeeping for 5 different local companies. Kim enjoys the beauty of the outdoors, learning new skills, and having her hands in the dirt. You can find her outdoors gardening, tending flowers, talking to her fruit trees - and her ducks - and she apologizes if you catch her singing out loud on the lawn mower. Kim cherishes the simple life with home and family as her center. Her love of people comes from her strong relationship with God and she is the smiling face that greets everyone at Larimer’s Neck of the Woods.

Larimer’s Neck of the Woods: Our Farm Story

PLANTS COMING UP 2.jpg

In May 2012 Tony and Kim purchased 11.5 acres of wooded land surrounded by beautiful countryside and rural farms just north of Idaville, Indiana. The property was overgrown with an old run down trailer as its only occupant, but they saw the potential of creating their own little homestead in the country. During the next 4 years they put their blood, sweat and tears (literally!) into working, cleaning and building the property into something they considered their own slice of heaven.

Countless days and nights went into the many essential upgrades. Tony and Kim also added some of their personality too with vibrant flowers, an orchard filled with apple and pear trees, and a firepit. Here many gatherings were spent with loved ones resulting in great talks and laughs over the years - and possibly a drink or two. Most importantly, these conversations led to a very special nickname: Larimer’s Neck of the Woods.

In 2013, Kim was given the all important “thinking swing” that hangs from the big oak tree which is lovingly called the tree of life. This tree has become the symbol for Larimer’s Neck of the Woods which was drawn by their son, Gage, and designed by their daughter, Christi. The thinking swing is where at the end of a long day, Tony and Kim could go and sit. The two would look over their property and see their vision coming to life.

Many discussions have taken place on that swing such as the decision to build their forever home. They were blessed to move in during November of 2016 just in time for Tony and Gage to make their homemade noodles for Thanksgiving. And in the fall of 2018, Tony and Kim were given another great opportunity - the chance to bid on 10 acres of farmland adjacent to their home. They took a huge leap of faith and purchased the land.

In 2020, the whole family planted some pumpkins, gourds, melons and sweet corn in their new farm field. It was a year of learning and of course, mistakes, but there was also a lot of success. That summer they were able to sell their first sweet corn, watermelon and honey melon to the public and that fall they opened the pumpkin patch and apple orchard.

Now as they look towards the future of Larimer’s Neck of the Woods, they are excited about growing their small farm and bringing the community healthy, delicious, fresh produce, thriving apple and pear trees, and a fall harvest pumpkin patch with fun family activities. Stay tuned, and watch as we grow!
